Religious School

The Congregation Beth Israel Religious School is designed to help our students feel a connection to and affection for Jewish life and tradition.

We provide supplemental, innovative and project-based learning opportunities for students in grades PreK-7, intended to develop their spiritual core and strengthen their Jewish identity.

We do not offer a cookie-cutter approach to teaching. Instead, we tailor our lessons to fit each student's unique learning style. We also provide the tools and support necessary to ensure that every student succeeds and fourishes.

Students continue their learning in our Darcone program for 8th-12th graders.

Curriculum and Meaningful Moments

Here at CBI, each grade explores the following six curricular content areas over the course of the year:

  • Ivrit - Hebrew
  • Bein Adam l’Chavero - Jewish Values
  • Bein Adam l’Makom - Jewish Rituals
  • Talmud Torah - Jewish Texts
  • Tefillah - Jewish Prayer
  • Ahavat Yisrael - The Love of Israel

We have established different themes and specific benchmarks in each of these content areas, and they will be studied by each grade in a developmentally appropriate way, using textbooks as guides and resources.

For our students in Kitah Gimmel through Kitah Zayin, there are "meaningful moments" woven into the curriculum:  field trips, projects and special events, designed to make the content of our learning come alive.
