Adult Education

Lifelong Jewish learning is a core value of Congregation Beth Israel.  We host several ongoing learning series yearly, as well as individual events designed to add meaning and depth to our participants' Jewish knowledge.

Our Context class is taught by visiting professors from the Jewish Theological Seminary and Rutgers University.  Each series runs for 8 sessions to explore a given topic in depth.  The class meets on Wednesdays, 7-9pm.

Our Ulpan class gives adults from a variety of backgrounds a foundation in the Hebrew language, both as used during synagogue prayer and as spoken in modern Israel.  It meets for 8 sessions each in the Fall and Spring semesters, on Wednesdays 6:15-7:15pm.

Coffee with the Cantor typically meets monthly, in homes or coffee shops on a weekday morning, and focuses on a timely issue of the Cantor's choosing.

Torah on Tap, sponsored by the CBI Men's Club and open to all, meets on weekday evenings at a local pub and features topical discussions with the Rabbi.

Individual events typically feature special speakers as they become available to our community or special topics as they suit congregants' interests or the themes of upcoming holidays.
