Social Action

The Social Action Committee sponsors a wide range of activities throughout the year to help people in need in Scotch Plains and surrounding communities. For example, we make sandwiches once a month at the synagogue for the Second Street Youth Center in Plainfield, run an annual coat drive for Jersey Cares, volunteer at Habitat for Humanity in Plainfield, deliver food for home-bound elderly as part of the Mobile Meals program, & participate in the JCC’s Come Alive! annual mitzvah event. The Social Action Committee is governed and funded by CBI’s Sisterhood, but any synagogue member, male or female, can join the committee and/or participate in its activities.

See Bar and Bat Mitzvah Community Service Resources in making plans for earning Bar and Bat Mitzvah volunteer credit.
